Starting in just three years after its launch, C&B Books Distribution has developed a well anticipated event in its Annual Book Fair. This year they proudly present the Third Annual Book & Health Fair which promises to be better than those that have preceded it.
SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS, NETWORKING
The 3rd Annual Book & Health Fair continues to promote the forging partnerships in New York's independent literary scene. Meeting and mingling with your favorite author is not as far removed as you'd think at this event. The environment is as relaxed, inviting and surprising as one might expect on a summer's afternoon.
The Queens Book Fair has been building momentum as one of the most sought after events to attend by authors, writers, publishers and dedicated book fans. Inspired by the legendary success of major book fairs throughout New York City (namely, Harlem and Brooklyn), C&B Books is humbled to have successfully established an event, equal in caliber, worthy of the Majesty that is called the Borough of Queens.
C&B Books History
Brenda Piper and Carol Rogers established their own tiny umbrella on the Internet in 2002. They strengthened the C&B Books, brand name recognition in the literary community by committing themselves to an all out public relations launch. As a result the C&B Books Distribution organization opened its first physical location at the Jamaica Market in October and introduced its newest location in a compact corner store in Flushing.
The partners stuck to their formula of consistency and perseverance by building their stock through consignment deals with self-published authors and advising writers through labor-intensive processes (mission statements, cover design, press releases and book signings, etc.)
How the Book Fair Concept came to be
We started in the industry as street vendors in Queens, and we saw how the consumers eargerly sort titles written by African American authors. Therefore, we decided to give them something larger, by holding the 1st Annual Queens Book Fair, they would have the opportunity to meet and greet the many authors that they support, most of them being self-published. Self-published authors are willing and responsive to their public and they enjoy the limelight as we cater to them recieving the exposure they so well deserve. We want to let the world know that Queens is on the map too it isn't to hard to see this vision and want to continue with this mission, just attend one of our Book Fairs and watch a
child author read to a group of children in our story time session and you will understand why we won't quit. Faith is work in Action and that is how Queens Book Fair was born.
